Justice Ministry to Enhance Security and Child Support in 2026 Budget

On February 6, 2026, the Ministry of Justice announced plans to strengthen internal security and increase state-paid child support as part of the 2026 state budget. The budget allocates €104.4 million to enhance internal security, including probation and correctional facility improvements. Additionally, child support payments will increase, with parents receiving €155 per month for children up to 7 years old and €180 for older children. These measures aim to improve societal welfare and security in Latvia.
