Kiribati Public Accounts Committee Visits New Zealand Parliament
A delegation from the Public Accounts Committee of the Parliament of Kiribati, including Hon. Tarakabu Tofinga, MP; Hon. England Iuta, MP; and Hon. Bautaake Beia, MP, visited the New Zealand Parliament from 26 to 28 March 2026. The visit aimed to examine parliamentary processes and strengthen inter-parliamentary relations.
During their stay, the delegation was introduced to the New Zealand House before Question Time and received a traditional Mihi Whakatau ceremony. They met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Gerry Brownlee, MP, and members of the NZ-Pacific Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group, including Hon. Carmel Sepuloni, MP.
The discussions focused on enhancing parliamentary oversight, financial accountability, and exploring avenues for future collaboration between the two nations' legislative bodies.
