President Ramaphosa Signs New SARS Tax Law
On April 9, 2026, President Cyril Ramaphosa signed the Tax Administration Laws Amendment Act 4 of 2026 into law. This legislation introduces significant changes to South Africa's tax system, including updates on estimated assessments, payment suspensions, inspections, and penalty rules. Notably, taxpayers can now request a suspension of payment when intending to dispute a liability or when seeking a reduced assessment. The Act aims to enhance compliance and streamline tax administration, reflecting the government's commitment to improving the efficiency of the South African Revenue Service (SARS).
