Ministry of Law and Justice Announces Establishment of Appellate Tribunal

The Ministry of Law and Justice has announced the establishment of an Appellate Tribunal, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the judicial system in Pakistan. This initiative aims to provide a more efficient mechanism for handling appeals and ensuring timely justice.

According to the official notification, the Appellate Tribunal will focus on expediting the resolution of cases that have been pending for extended periods. The tribunal is expected to be staffed with experienced judges and legal experts to ensure fair and impartial hearings.

Federal Minister Azam Nazir Tarar emphasized the government's commitment to judicial reforms and the importance of the new tribunal in reducing the backlog of cases. He stated that the establishment of the Appellate Tribunal is a significant step towards improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the legal system.

The Ministry has also issued guidelines for the functioning of the tribunal, including the types of cases it will handle and the procedures for filing appeals. Legal practitioners and the public are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these guidelines to ensure smooth proceedings.

In addition to the establishment of the Appellate Tribunal, the Ministry has announced the appointment of Dr. Syed Muhammad Anwer as an Aalim Judge of the Federal Shariat Court. This appointment is part of the government's broader strategy to strengthen the judiciary by incorporating diverse legal expertise.

The Ministry has also addressed administrative matters, such as allowing calculators in the written test for the member post of the Appellate Tribunal for Inland Revenue (ATIR) and assigning additional charge of the post of Presiding Officer, Intellectual Property Tribunal, Karachi.

These developments reflect the Ministry's proactive approach to legal and judicial reforms, aiming to enhance the rule of law and ensure justice for all citizens.
