Opposition enables approval of 2026 State Budget in generality

The opposition parties in S03o Tomeé and Predncipe have facilitated the approval of the 2026 State Budget in generality, due to the lack of support from the majority party. The budget and the Major Planning Options were approved with 34 votes in favor, including 18 from the Movement for the Liberation of S03o Tomeé and Predncipe (MLSTP), two from the Basta Movement, both opposition parties, five from the MCI-PS/PUN coalition, and only nine from deputies of the Independent Democratic Action (ADI), which holds an absolute majority of 30 deputies in parliament. The opposition emphasized that this support does not constitute a 'blank check' to the government.
