Constitutional Court rejects unconstitutionality of Citizenship by Investment law

The Constitutional Court of S03o Tomeé and Predncipe has declared that the decree-law regulating the Citizenship by Investment or Donation program is not unconstitutional and does not result from the usurpation of the National Assembly's competencies. The court decided not to declare the illegality or unconstitutionality of the decree-law dated August 1, and consequently dismissed the request, understanding that the specific legislation allowed the government to regulate through a decree. This decision follows a public service concession contract signed between the government and Passport Legacy, with revenues from the project to be shared between the government (56%) and Passport Legacy (44%).
