LACC Advances Corruption Cases in Grand Bassa and Gbarpolu
The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) has announced significant progress in prosecuting two major corruption-related cases in Grand Bassa and Gbarpolu Counties.
Grand Bassa County Case
In Grand Bassa County, trial proceedings have commenced before the 2nd Judicial Circuit Court in Buchanan. The case involves the LACC, the former Chief Executive Officer of TAMMA Corporation, Abdullai L. Kamara, and TAMMA Corporation through its CEO Fabien Lavelanet. Following the successful selection and empaneling of the jury, state prosecutors have begun presenting witness testimony and documentary evidence before the court.
Gbarpolu County Case
In Gbarpolu County, the LACC has reached an important procedural milestone in the "Yellow Machines" procurement case. The individuals involved include:
- Sam K. Zinnah, Superintendent of Gbarpolu County
- Omaru Sheriff, CEO of City Lion (Vendor)
- J. Keyah Saah, Former Superintendent of Gbarpolu County
- Anthony Yorkor, Former Fiscal Superintendent
- Robert Benda, Former Chairperson of the Gbarpolu Project Management Committee (PMC)
On May 19, 2026, the mandate from the Chambers Justice of the Supreme Court of Liberia was formally read before the 16th Judicial Circuit Court in Bopolu, paving the way for the matter to proceed. The LACC remains prepared to argue the merits of the case as soon as the court concludes a previously scheduled matter currently taking precedence on its docket.
