Zurich Court Dismisses Palantir's Right-of-Reply Claims

Zurich's Commercial Court has issued a ruling in the lawsuit filed by Palantir Technologies Switzerland GmbH against the online magazine Republik. The case centered on Palantir's demand for a right of reply to two articles published by Republik in December 2025, which detailed the company's persistent efforts to secure contracts with Swiss federal authorities.

Palantir contested 23 specific passages across the two articles, alleging factual inaccuracies and seeking corrections. The court, however, dismissed 22 of these claims, upholding only one. This outcome is seen as a significant affirmation of journalistic freedom and the standards of Swiss press law.

Republik and the WAV research collective, which collaborated on the investigative pieces, regard the ruling as a clear validation of their work. They emphasized the importance of independent journalism and the role of the judiciary in upholding press freedoms, especially in the face of challenges from powerful tech corporations.

In response to the ruling, Palantir acknowledged the court's decision to grant a right of reply for one passage and reiterated the importance of open debates where both sides are heard. The company stated, "In our society, it is crucial that both sides are heard in open debates on important issues."
