President Ndayishimiye Inaugurates 2026-2027 Judicial Year

On September 8, 2026, President Evariste Ndayishimiye officially inaugurated the 2026-2027 judicial year at the Kigobe Hemicycle in Bujumbura. The ceremony, attended by high-ranking officials, emphasized the theme: "A justice system that is accessible, equitable, and timely is a pathway to achieving Burundi's Vision 2040 and 2060."

In his address, President Ndayishimiye commended judicial personnel for their dedication and urged them to serve as role models. He highlighted the judiciary's pivotal role in maintaining peace and fostering development, calling for integrity and a steadfast fight against corruption. The President also encouraged citizens to actively participate in truth-seeking processes and acknowledged the efforts of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Furthermore, President Ndayishimiye reaffirmed his commitment to establishing an independent, modern, and efficient judiciary. He announced plans for constructing modern court facilities equipped with adequate resources to enhance the quality and effectiveness of judicial services, aiming to meet citizens' expectations fully.

This initiative aligns with Burundi's broader vision of becoming an emerging nation by 2040 and a developed country by 2060, underscoring the administration's dedication to judicial reforms as a cornerstone for national progress.
