Uzbekistan Accelerates Privatization and Reduces State Participation

On September 12, 2026, Uzbekistan implemented Presidential Decree № PD-177, introducing new mechanisms for the sale of state assets to accelerate privatization and reduce state participation in the economy. The decree outlines plans to sell state-owned shares in 84 business entities, 1,242 real estate properties, and approximately 8,000 hectares of land for entrepreneurial and urban development purposes. Additionally, 85 state-owned enterprises are slated for liquidation or reorganization. This initiative aims to create additional opportunities for investors and expand the private sector's role in Uzbekistan's economy.
