EU extends military training mission in Central African Republic until 2026

On July 8, 2025, the Council of the European Union decided to extend the mandate of the European Union Military Training Mission in the Central African Republic (EUTM RCA) until September 19, 2026. The EUTM RCA focuses on supporting Central African authorities through strategic advice and the education of Non-Commissioned Officers and Officers of the Central African Armed Forces (FACA). Since its establishment in April 2016, the mission has trained and educated nearly 9,500 FACA personnel, promoting the development of a modernized, effective, and democratically accountable military force. The extension of the mission underscores the EU's commitment to supporting security sector reform and stability in the Central African Republic.
