Law Society Seeks to Disbar Pritam Singh Over False Evidence Conviction

The Law Society of Singapore has initiated disciplinary proceedings to disbar Workers' Party chief Pritam Singh following his conviction for providing false evidence under oath. The hearing is scheduled for August 13, 2026, before the Court of Three Judges, comprising Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon, Justice Kannan Ramesh, and Justice See Kee Onn.

Under the Legal Profession Act 1996, the Law Society is mandated to seek disciplinary action against legal practitioners convicted of offenses involving fraud or dishonesty. Singh's conviction stems from two counts of lying to a parliamentary committee in 2021 regarding former WP MP Raeesah Khan's false statements in Parliament about a sexual assault case.

In December 2025, the High Court dismissed Singh's appeal against his conviction, and he paid a total fine of $14,000. The Court of Three Judges holds the authority to censure, disbar, suspend for up to five years, or impose fines up to $100,000 on legal practitioners.

This case underscores the stringent ethical standards upheld within Singapore's legal profession and the serious consequences of breaching them.
