Prime Minister Rabuka Assures Public Consultation on Kava Bill 2026

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has clarified that the Kava Bill 2026 is not yet law and that Fijians will have another opportunity to provide input before it is passed. This statement comes in response to public concerns over the bill's proposed registration requirements and penalties, as well as criticism that the Coalition Government is out of touch with ordinary citizens.

Rabuka explained that the bill has been introduced in Parliament and will be referred to the relevant Parliamentary Committee by the Speaker. The committee will conduct its own public consultations, hear submissions from people across the country, and has the authority to recommend changes to the proposed legislation.
